Bonaventura: “We should have won”

By Alex Viola -

Giacomo Bonaventura admits Milan “should’ve done better” and it’s getting tough getting into Europe.

Il Diavolo were twice leading at the Stadio Carlo Castellani and each time the hosts equalized.

“We should’ve won and we didn’t manage it” the dynamic midfielder told Mediaset Premium.

“Empoli played well, but we should’ve done more. We should’ve defended better as a unit, because we took the lead twice and yet couldn’t hold on on either occasion. We needed to keep the lead!”

“We have to go forward now and pick up as many points as possible, otherwise it’ll be difficult to reach our objectives. If we don’t win, then of course it’s a bad feeling.”

Inter now have the chance to go ten points clear of Milan, with the Derby della Madonnina next Sunday, at 20:45 (local time). Inter are currently third, and occupy the last Champions League spot. At the start of the season, third was Milan’s objective.

“Now we hope Inter don’t break away.”
