AC Milan 1-0 Ludogorets: Player Ratings

By Ahmed Khalifa -

Starting XI

A. Donnarumma (7.5) – This was Antonio’s second start for the Rossoneri after a great performance in the Milan Derby and he did exceptionally well to shut the visitors out and keep his second clean sheet in as many games.

Abate (5.5) – Captain for today, the veteran right-back put in a below average performance. You could tell he’s grown older and his attributes have faded.

Zapata (7) – It was a solid performance in defence from the Colombian centre back despite not having much to do on his part.

Romagnoli (7.5 MOTM) – Alessio just keeps getting better and better. The young Italian centre-back played an incredible game in defence, completely keeping out the opposition.

Rodriguez (6.5) – From the start, the Swiss left-back looked tired though still put in a solid performance helping out in defence. We haven’t really seen much of him in attack this time around.

Kessie (6) – We didn’t see much of the Ivorian in this match but Franck put in a solid performance in midfield, working tirelessly to keep the advantage on the home side.

Locatelli (6.5) – Despite a few shakey moves and errors, the young Italian midfielder performed well in front of the defence.

Montolivo (6) – The veteran midfielder had a great match with some moments of brilliant passes throughout. He’s really changed under Gennaro Gattuso.

Borini (7) – He just can’t stop scoring lately! Fabio Borini bagged the Rossoneri’s only goal on the match and put in a solid and hard-working performance.

A. Silva (5.5) – The Portuguese got a chance to prove his worth to Gattuso but looked quite nervous and didn’t really do anything to impress.

Cutrone (6.5) – Despite getting the assist for Borini’s goal, you could see that Patrick Cutrone should not be playing at left wing and should always remain a striker.

Substitutions

Mauri (5.5) – We barely see any of the little Argentine-Italian and he came on at a time of barely any pressure and helped add fresh legs to the Rossoneri midfield.

Kalinić (5.5) – He just can’t seem to perform well, the Croatian. He didn’t add much to the team but won a few free-kicks and held the ball up well at times.

Bonucci (N/A) – Leonardo Bonucci came on later in the match to reinforce the defence and help the Rossoneri keep the clean sheet at home.

The Manager

Gattuso (6.5) – It wasn’t the kind of performance we’ve become used to seeing from the Italian tactician’s men but that might be because the squad was rotated and the fixture had already been won. Nonetheless, Gennaro and his men got the win and are through to the next round.
