Ag. Paletta: “Milan won’t renew his contract, so we asked to leave”

By Oliver Fisher -

Gabriel Paletta’s agent has confirmed that his client is not in Milan’s plans and wishes to leave the club this summer.

The 31-year-old centre-back put in some Jekyll and Hyde performances last season, generally partnering Alessio Romagnoli well but also receiving five red cards in Serie A.

His agent Martin Guastadisegno has revealed that Milan have no plans to extend the defender’s contract and as a result, he will seek a move for his client.

“We met with Milan and as things stand they do not intend to renew Paletta’s contract, so because of that, we asked to leave,” agent Guastadisegno told Calciomercato.it.

“In agreement with the Rossoneri, with whom the rapport is excellent, we will find the best solution.”

His current deal expires in June 2018, and Guastadisegno went on to confirm that Genoa have shown interest in Paletta.

“We thank the Genoa directors, who stepped forward for Gabriel straight away and who I met last week in Milan, but so far we have been unable to give them a definitive response, because we are evaluating all the possible alternatives.

“We’ll see what happens over the next few weeks, as many clubs are interested in Paletta.”
