Ancelotti: “Milan? Nobody has a magic wand”

By Oliver Fisher -

Carlo Ancelotti has talked to Radio Anch’io lo Sport earlier this morning to release a few updates about his future and, once again, his sacking from Bayern Munich.

“The reason behind the sacking is not Neuer’s injury. He is a great goalkeeper and his injury has affected us but that’s not the main reason,” Ancelotti confessed.

“I’ve been a football manager for the last 20 years, I know big clubs want to see results even if you can’t make any judgement in September. I have time to watch football now, I am looking for new opportunities but not from now. My contract with Bayern expires at the end of the season and that’s when I’ll start listening to new offers.

“I want a serious project that can give me time and serenity even though I know it’s not easy. I am just waiting something will come.”

Ancelotti went on to talk about his future, referring to clubs that he has been linked with by the press.

“Premier League is a very interesting league of course. The atmosphere is amazing there even if Bundesliga stadiums are also great. I don’t know where I could end up, Italy is a solution as well. Every days there are new speculations about my future. Croatia, China, Everton, Chelsea. Don’t make my friend Antonio [Conte] upset, I always talk to him.

“Serie A is very interesting. Napoli are the table leaders, Juventus have never gone away, then Lazio, Roma and Inter who don’t have to play any European cup. AC Milan have made many changes, the fourth place would be a great target but it won’t be easy. Nobody has the magic wand.

“Managers and projects need time to be successful, six months are not enough to build a new squad from the beginning. AC Milan will need to sign more players in the future. Montella is right when he says that it’s difficult to buy top players, that’s why the rossoneri have signed several young players.

“I’d see myself coaching Roma but don’t tell Di Francesco. The truth is, I’d like any club, I’d like to coach and I will listen to offers at the end of the season.”

  1. why are we listening to a just fired coach protect another coach? of course he is going to say that it is not montella’s fault. I love ancelotti, but please… to say that it take time to get a team to gel and then say that we need more players… by that logic we will not be competitive for years as we are in a cycle of buy and then trying to gel the team.. come on
the reality is this: fassone and mirabelli purchased the wrong players and montella is not fielding them properly… full stop
I mean does anyone think that playing these guys in this formation for the next year is going to help? look at Suso! he plays on the right wing FULL STOP… play him elsewhere and he disappears! some players like borini are more flexible and adaptable (or some may say… not that good so you don’t notice a drop in performance when he shifts position… but not the point right now…)
I think the problem is obvious… 3 center backs and 2 central midfielders isn’t working and that is why bonucci, biglia and kessie are struggling… go back to the 4-3-3 … let these guys flourish in what they know, like what is being done with Suso.
that is why montella needs to be fired and a new coach who understands these players (like capello – who studies his players and deploys them appropriately) and will play them properly
dont ask me what to do with kalinic… except bench him untill we play the bottom clubs…

  2. @ Micheal you make a very good point on your analysis.milan switch to the present formation all bcos of heavy defeat by lazio.despite Change in formation mian still struggle to compete wit big clubs.it will be better to change the formation back to 4 3 3 to get a better result.if player like Suso, bonaventura, hakan kessie are in best shape.clubs will find it hard to defeat milan
