CM: Irony continues as appeal hearing over San Siro restriction is postponed

By Oliver Fisher -

The first hearing for the appeal against the historical restriction placed by the Archaeological, Fine Arts and Landscape Superintendency for the Council of Milano regarding San Siro’s second tier was postponed.

Sometimes irony presents itself, and this is one of those cases. To simplify things, Milan and Inter wanted to build a new stadium next to the current San Siro which would have foreseen the partial demolition of the current stadium, but there is now protection on the second tier of the Meazza which would make it impossible to do so.

The teams have thus looked elsewhere to build their own stadiums, but an appeal was lodged to try and overturn the restriction which would have at least kept the ‘new San Siro’ idea from being dead in the water.

However, Calciomercato.com report that the the first hearing was supposed to take place today but was postponed. The designated section of the Lombardy Regional Administrative Court believes that the appeal falls under the jurisdiction of another section.

At this point the ball passes to the president of the TAR, who will schedule a new hearing in December. Meanwhile, the State Attorney’s Office, which depends on the Government, aims to have the appeal declared inadmissible.

The red tape is getting even thicker, so Inter and Milan are carrying forward alternative projects for the new owned stadiums in Rozzano and San Donato Milanese respectively.

  1. The usual bureaucracy. This department, or that body. This appeals court or that jurisdiction. Why the clubs are even bothering is beyond me. Then it seems we’re also having problems at San Donato, because for some reason they don’t want a stadium built in the scrubland between two highways.🙄🔫
