CdS: Montella’s status as AC Milan manager in peril

By Oliver Fisher -

Despite public displays of faith from the management, it appears Vincenzo Montella’s status as AC Milan’s manager is, once again, in peril.

According to a report Il Corriere dello Sport, executives at the San Siro believe the Rossoneri should get results from all of their next eight matches, and a failure to do so will result in Montella’s dismissal.

As Milan fights for a spot in European play, they have an opportunity to reduce the separation between them and Sampdoria for the lone Europa League qualification spot. Currently they sit seven points behind.

With matches against Torino this weekend and Benevento, Bologna, Verona, Atalanta, Fiorentina, Crotone and Cagliari afterwards, Massimo Mirabelli expects to do so.

Fans and pundits have been clamoring for his firing since Milan stumbled out of the starting block this season. After spending more than €200million on players this past summer, everyone expected Milan to earn a European spot, if not challenge for the Scudetto. With their continued struggles, it becomes harder, every week, to see them reach their goal.

  1. They don’t have the money to fire him as they have to pay millions for breach of contract. Simple as that. The ugly display alone should have been the reason to fire him long ago., not to mention all those losses.
