CF: Milan and Inter lodge appeal against San Siro constraint with Milano council

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan and Inter, along with the Milano council, have officially lodged an appeal against the San Siro constraint. If it’s successful, then it could be feasible to renovate or demolish the stadium in the future.

Milan are currently fully focused on their stadium project in San Donato, which is now being reviewed by the local council. However, it doesn’t hurt to have a backup plan and that’s why the Rossoneri have put their name on the appeal.

According to Calcio e Finanza, the appeal was presented by the Milano council to both clubs, who decided to add their signatures. The constraint in question, which concerns the second ring of San Siro, would make a demolition illegal and significant renovation would also be very tough. It would come into effect next year, as per the orders of the Superintendence.

Regardless if they are staying at the stadium or not, it’s in the best interest of both clubs to support the appeal. Especially since it’s being handled by the Milano council, meaning the clubs don’t have to spend time on it themselves.

The hearing with the Council Chamber for the appeal will take on November 21st, per the report, and a decision will then be made. As said, however, Milan are fully focused on San Donato and want to build their own stadium.

Yes, particularly given how the people of San Donato have reacted to the plan to build a private stadium on private land. What is the deal with Italians and hating stadium development? Can an Italian enlighten us?
