Chelsea ‘ready to meet asking price’ for Romagnoli

By Oliver Fisher -

It could be a busy January in the transfer market for Milan and Chelsea with the two clubs about to embark on some important new business.

New Rossoneri CEO Fassone and Sporting Director Mirabelli were at Stamford Bridge to watch Chelsea beat Leicester City on Saturday to begin initial contact in their quest to bring Cesc Fabregasto Serie A.

The British press are convinced that Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli is the first name on Antonio Conte’s list of winter reinforcements, and the Daily Express has claimed that the Blues are ready to meet Milan’s asking price of €55million for the 21-year-old. Romagnoli is adept at playing in a back-three which is Conte’s preferred choice and the former Italian national team boss will pull out all the stops to bring him to the Premier League.

There is however, the situation with Diavolo coach Vincenzo Montella, who is reluctant to lose one of his star players. Calciomercato.com has already stated that there will be no defensive departures in January with Romagnoli an important part of the new cycle at the San Siro.

If January looks like an impossible task for Conte and co. in West London, next summer will certainly see a prolonged attack in his attempts to strengthen his back-line.
