CM: Milan and Man Utd the two frontrunners for Italy midfield star

By Oliver Fisher -

Manchester United are now the main threat to AC Milan for the signing of Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, a report claims.

Tonali has been linked with a move to the Rossoneri by a number of different outlets over the last few months, as well as a range of other top clubs.

Back in April, we revealed that Milan had reached out to the teenager’s entourage to determine the possibility him joining Milan in the summer.

The player himself even revealed his love for Milan earlier in the year in an interview with Sky Italia (via Football Italia), revealing that then head coach Gennaro Gattuso is his idol.

Calciomercato.com then reported that Milan did indeed make a summer bid for Tonali, believed to be around €15-20m plus the option of loaning him back to Brescia for a season.

According to the latest updates from the same outlet, Paolo Maldini and the rest of the club’s hierarchy are still interested in the idea of trying to sign Tonali.

However, they add that Premier League giants Manchester United are also firmly in the race, having scouted him on numerous occasions this season.

Calciomercato add that United are in fact the ‘main threat’ to Milan for Tonali’s signing. The player’s will could become key, as well as the price tag placed upon him by Massimo Cellino.
