CM: Milan eye three midfielders for possible January assault

By Grégory Leclercq -

Milan are reportedly already looking for new options to bolster the team even more in January, especially in midfield.

After failing to bring one more needed midfielder before the end of last summer’s transfer window, Marco Fassone had, during the “APACF Show”, let slip that the club had tried a last minute transfer which unfortunately just failed.

While the sporting director acknowledged that the team was “ready as it is” and had enough depth, it now seems, in hindsight, that it wasn’t necessarily the case.

It has to be said that even if new pair Lucas Biglia and Franck Kessie have shown great qualities, they have also shown weaknesses when having to play twice a week for a while and as Montella is expected to, the team will probably try and last the longest in their European campaign.

For this precise reason, there are new names surfacing to help the team fight on all battlegrounds, and according to Calciomercato.com Milan are certain to sign a new midfield man in January.

The names surfacing are the ones of Jakub Jankto, Alfred Duncan and Seko Fofana. All three are viable options to replace Franck Kessie in the role of Mezz’ala or play as a holding midfield player.

Udinese man Jankto was believed to be that last-minute failed swoop of August and remains the number one interest in the eyes of the Rossoneri.

Added to that name are the ones of Duncan and Fofana, two Kessie-like strong and physical midfielders playing for Sassuolo and Udinese respectively.

If one of these three comes to Milanello, it is believed that the transfer fee will have to be around €10m, a figure that the new ownership might not hesitate to splash-out soon enough.
