CM: Milan’s €48m investment has become a problem – the three options to resolve it

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan face a real problem regarding the future of Lucas Paqueta, a report claims, in particular on the economic side.

According to Calciomercato.com, the worry comes from the figures on the balance sheet. The Brazilian join Milan last January from Flamengo for €38.4million, and on 31 August 2020 this residual value will be around €24.2m, meaning a sale for a figure any less than that would constitute a loss.

To that figure, his annual salary of €1.7m net (€3.4m gross) until 30 June 2023 should be added, which corresponds to another €9.6m gross guaranteed for his salary.

The report adds that at the moment Paqueta seems unsellable for Milan due to the figures involved, and for this reason three options are now open to him.

The first is fighting to stay in the team and hoping that Milan will be forced into re-evaluating him in preseason. The second is that of a dry loan or a loan with an option to buy, but that doesn’t really suit Milan.

The third is to include him in an exchange, but it will be neccesary to find a club that value him no less than €24.2m which is far from easy.
