CorSport: Fenerbahce refusing to give up on Milan defender despite PSV links

By Oliver Fisher -

Fenerbahce have not given up on their pursuit of AC Milan defender Ricardo Rodriguez, a report claims, despite reports suggesting he is heading to PSV Eindhoven.

We reported on December 20 via our mercato expert Vito Angele that the Swiss international has already found agreement with Milan to leave outright in January.

La Gazzetta dello Sport then stated on Saturday that PSV have ‘accelerated’ their pursuit of Rodriguez, with talks between Milan, the Dutch club and the entourage of the full-back continuing.

A hint was dropped on Sunday when Stefano Pioli named his squad for the game against Sampdoria at San Siro and chose to leave out Rodriguez, as well as Ante Rebic and Fabio Borini.

According to the latest reports from il Corriere dello Sport – as cited by MilanNews.it – there is still another potential suitor at the window hoping to sign the 27-year-old.

Turkish side Fenerbahce are not giving up on signing the former Wolfsburg man, and the report mentions that it may be deemed an acceptable destination especially in view of the 2020 European Championships.
