Deulofeu to push for AC Milan return?

By SempreMilan -

It seemed as if Gerard Deulofeu’s time at Milan had come to an end after Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez hinted that the club might exercise their buy-back option for the player.

Deulofeu spent half a season on loan at Milan where he cemented his place on the left wing. He had a successful loan stint by scoring 4 goals and assisting another 3 in 17 appearances. The pacey winger was very crucial in the final stretch of the season where his goals and assists earned Milan the last Europa League spot over Inter and Fiorentina.

His performances did not go unnoticed as he earned a call up to the Spanish national team. His impressive revival at Milan led to Barcelona’s interest in exercising his buy out clause set at €12m. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Deulofeu does not want to return to Barcelona only to sit on the bench. With Neymar, Suarez, and Messi in attack, it would be difficult for the Spanish winger to find space in the squad.

With the World Cup coming up in a year, Deulofeu can not afford to spend the season on the bench. He could either push to stay at Everton or push for a return to Milan. Deulofeu’s family enjoyed the lifestyle in Milano and would be open for a return. Everton coach Ronald Koeman is not a big fan of the player as he does not fit the coach’s style of play. A loan renewal to Milan is possible as Deulofeu thrived under Montella.
