Di Marzio: AC Milan rejected chance to re-sign Deulofeu

By Fred Ilondo -

AC Milan turned down the chance to bring back winger Gerard Deulofeu this winter, a report claims.

The Spaniard won the hearts of many Rossoneri fans last season when he joined the club last January and immediately made an impact.

The former Everton man played 18 games with Milan scoring four goals in the process. His impressive performances earned him a place in the national team as well as a return to Barcelona.

However, after failing to convince in Spain, Deulofeu is looking for a move this January as it was reported yesterday by the Italian media that a deal with Napoli was close.

Now, reliable transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio is claiming that Milan was the first club the Spanish winger contacted, but the Rossoneri did not make a move as they were not interested in the player.

Sporting Director Massimilliano Mirabelli had made it clear that the club does not intend on buying players and will be focusing on selling as they believe the team is already complete. This report only confirms his allegations.
