In an interview with IlMattino.it, Donnarumma’s brother-in-law, Carmine Paoletti, spoke about the contract renewal situation, revealing that his brother really wants to stay at Milan.
“The truth is that Gigio never said that he wanted to leave Milan, he only wanted some time to decide, so that he could focus on the National team,” said Carmine Paoletti.
“However, Milan decided to give him an ultimatum, they wanted an answer immediately. From there, media reacted very aggressively for no reason. Gigio never asked Raiola if other teams were interested. He always saw only Milan in his future.
“He is really attached to Milan as a club. I think if the club re-opens the dialogue, there is no reason for the relationship to end.”
Fassone and Mirabelli have re-opened negotiations with Donnarumma and his family, and it’s been reported that a new deadline has been set; 3rd July. It remains to be seen if Gigio will accept this, and what will happen to Raiola if so…
