Eranio talks Genoa-Milan, Pioli’s management and Scudetto chances

By Oliver Fisher -

Former AC Milan man Stefano Eranio has stated that he does not understand the reason for some of the criticism that the team have attracted, but expects them to have a tough test against Genoa.

Milan make the trip to face Genoa on Saturday evening having won three games on the spin in Serie A against Hellas Verona, Cagliari and Lazio, scoring six goals in the process and conceding just once.

That has put them joint-top of the table alongside Inter, who play at home against Bologna in Saturday’s early kick-off and could thus put some pressure on their city rivals, who face a Genoa side that have adapted well to life back in the top flight.

The Rossoneri’s good form meets an Alberto Gilardino side that are in mid-table and have already beaten both Roma and Lazio (the former 4-1) and have drawn with Napoli. If you feel like you know which way the game will go, you should check out the best sports betting promos.

In view this evening’s match against the Rossoblu at the Marassi, MilanNews spoke to Eranio who played for both teams during his career, and he gave his thoughts on the game.

What kind of match are you expecting?

“Not easy for Milan, because they have everything to lose. We need to understand if the efforts of the Champions League have been well absorbed.”

This Milan side create a lot but score little, is it a post-derby effect?

“Let’s turn it on the other side: Lautaro also had many opportunities to score against Benfica, yet he didn’t succeed. It has nothing to do with psycho-analysis, on the contrary…”

Are you convinced how Pioli makes Milan play? What would you improve?

“I, personally, am satisfied. The team plays well, the opportunities are there, the players, especially the new ones, are in form, those who are called into action after not playing for a long time – like Adli – give good responses… I don’t see all these big problems.”

Are Milan in a favourable position for the Scudetto?

“That always depends on many variables. Predictions cannot be made. For now, Milan is meeting expectations: they have the same points as Inter, they are at the top of the table, they are scoring and playing a good game.

“Of course, you have to think game after game. Already against Genoa, immediately after the Champions League, it is not a simple matter.”
