While Milan players and coach Rino Gattuso are getting ready to face Juventus next weekend, there has also been a lot of news on Milan’s finances during the international break.
The rossoneri’s CEO Marco Fassone spoke about looking ahead to the Juventus game and the rest of the season but also the financial situation during an interview with Sky Sport.
Reflecting on the decision to hire Gattuso: “We have to recognize Gattuso and Mirabelli, who gave me the courage to make that choice [of Gattuso], for their great merits. The results are surprising, the atmosphere has transformed completely.
“Gattuso was able to turn around the situation that, especially from the point of view of morale, was not an ideal one. He worked very well on the physical and athletic side of the players, he knew how to speak with the players.”
On the next fixture: “We know the difficulties of playing at Allianz Stadium, that Juventus are certainly few steps ahead of us. But we will try to play like we did recently.
“Bonucci? We were all with bated breath because he was one yellow away from suspension. We believe that it will be a good game for everyone and for him it will certainly be special.”
Looking forward: “At the moment we know that every game is a game where we have to give our best and bring home the result. This comeback, which seemed impossible, today has a bit more of a difficulty and therefore we have to play to the maximum.”
On the financial situation: “Milan is having their own growth project. It’s obvious that there is an extraordinary attention around us at national and international level that wants to pre-figure the future.
“What can I tell the fans is that the projects started in April 2017 are perfectly on the roadmap on both sporting and non-sporting level. The club is doing well, even a little better compared to what was in the budgets, in all of its projects.
“The future, in my opinion, is rosy. I think we are managing the club well. It takes time and patience. The results never arrive in the first year when revolutions are made, it seems to me that we are well routed & the fans can be confident about the future of Milan.”
