Fassone: “Fans can expect 2-3 critical signings; we are not obliged to sell anyone”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone has revealed that Rossoneri fans can expect ‘two or three new players in crucial positions’ in the summer mercato.

There have been concerns over Milan’s finances under the new ownership, however the latest comments seem to suggest the club is in a healthy position.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “Milan will consolidate their squad.

“80-90 percent of our players have performed at expectations or above them. However, we couldn’t have spent €240m if we hadn’t sold some players or made capital gains on not just players.

“[Sporting director] Mirabelli did a great job. There will now be progressive improvements: the fans can expect 2-3 new players in positions we consider to be critical.

“Sales of key players? With our numbers in hand, on a financial level, I don’t think we’re obliged to sell anyone.

“However, having made a point of the situation with the sporting director and Coach, I can say that there will be players coming in and going out.

“Donnarumma? Everyone has complete confidence in him. He’s one of the pillars and we see Gigio in our minds as our goalkeeper for the long term.”
