GdS: Pioli yelled at De Ketelaere just before Roma’s goal – what he said

By Isak Möller -

Charles De Ketelaere was one of the flops for AC Milan in the 1-1 draw against Roma as he lost the ball just before the Giallorossi’s opener. Interestingly enough, Stefano Pioli’s words may have initiated that sequence.

De Ketelaere came off the bench in the 75th minute to replace Ismael Bennacer. However, the Belgian had zero impact in attack and struggled to keep hold of possession, which was evidenced on Roma’s goal as he lost the challenge against Gianluca Mancini.

Roma then quickly countered and managed to open the scoring. Interestingly enough, as reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), Pioli wasn’t happy with De Ketelaere and angrily yelled ‘Charles, wake up!’ just one minute before Roma took the lead.

Contrary to the paper’s report, some are now saying that Pioli yelled ‘Dai Charles, dai!’, which means ‘Come on, Charles, come on!’. A phrase that the manager uses for all of his players all the time.

These words probably resulted in De Ketelaere dropping down to involve himself in the play, but it went horribly wrong. The €35m man continues to disappoint, but there is still time to redeem himself with five league games to go, and boy could he use a goal at this point.

  1. Cdk had low body balance and vision on the field, tonali’s not getting the ball quick enough and keep asking for foul rather than went regaining the ball. Then calabria also wasn’t quick enough to clear the ball away from TamTam. Mr coach should solve this prob and get all 3 points for reamaining league matches, periodd

    1. Definitely yes. CdK have technically gift but should more gain his physically balance. Alexis more valuable than calabria on right wing. Last, tonali like other italian player always ask to foul than regaining the ball. Last night, milan should win that game if they have killer player lika Ibra. But thats good result if you watch roma play like american football than calcio.. haha

  2. He even runs awkward. Not sure if he’s even an athlete. I think he just has decent ball skills and that’s it and since the pressure from defenders comes much faster in serie a he doesn’t even have time to use his ball skills. Cash in while we can. Best for us and for CDK.

  3. Cdk did well in the game more than fan favourite diaz
    But y’all won’t admit it
    He should be starting
He also nudged Ibanez so alexis could score

    1. Definitely yes. Diaz play like a ghost in the park. No effect if we use player no. 10. Should magician with that number. Wondering if milan redeem it for 25m euro ??!! Milan should sign player like bennacer. Hes truly no. 10 milan player. Wondering if milan have 2 players like bennacer on the field, should more easy for striker.

Remember barca glory?? They have 2 player like bennacer on the field. Xavi and iniesta.

  4. As I always said, cdk is not a football player,he should be relegeted to Seria C.That guy can never improved.Am 100% sure he doesn’t with 35euro even I can’t buy hum 500k euro

  5. Lacking body balance and weak on defense. He will follow paqueta path in ACM if not changing mentality. Use him as swap player with dominik szobo or rasmus or sell him to EPL club next summer , it is benefit for both ACM and CDK

  6. 35m waste on CDK instead of giving Kessie more money and advancing Bennacer to the No 10 role..

CDK, ADLI, VRANX, DEST etc what did Maldini really do all summer.

  7. Everyone is criticizing CDK. Kessie only had 2 maybe 3 good season. He was terrible for the first 2 season. Same for Suso, I think that he’ll get there. Specifically how he played in the beginning until around October when he was dropped. All theses pressure isn’t helping him doing better
