Giampaolo: “Coaching Milan would be an honour”

By Oliver Fisher -

Former Empoli coach Marco Giampaolo has released an interview with Gazzetta TV talking about speculations linking him with a summer move to AC Milan.

“Coaching them would be an honour,” he said “but there’s nothing more than that.

“Arrigo Sacchi was a great innovator and his teams were able to dominate both in Italy and Europe.”

“He asked me to coach U21 Italy national team some years ago, but I declined as I had reached agreement with another club.”

“I can only thank Sacchi for appreciating me.”

New Chinese owners, however, would prefer Unai Emery or Manuel Pellegrini for the coaching role next season, whilst Giampaolo might have a chance to coach AC Milan, should Silvio Berlusconi remain in charge as the rossoneri president (which is still a plausible option even if the Chinese group will complete the club’s takeover).
