It may not be the decisive meeting, but the meeting today between Sal Galatioto and the Fininvest management is certainly important.
The Chinese consortium’s advisor will arrive in Milan with the purpose of finalising a first draft of the contract which will be subsequently presented to Silvio Berlusconi.
The current Milan president will then make a decision as to whether to actually sell the club, or risk alienating Milanisti everywhere.
This morning, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the meeting between Galatioto and Fininvest is not surprising given that the two parties have maintained constant contact.
The initial exclusivity deadline was agreed as June 15, but has now been moved to June 30 due to the heart complications Berlusconi has suffered.
At this stage of the negotiations, the main issues to be resolved relate to multi-annual investment guarantees requested by Berlusconi and his role in the new governance.
Berlusconi has reportedly stressed these issues to be of main importance, and consequently Galatioto and Fininvest will seek to find a resolution in the coming days, something which may accelerate proceedings in what seems like an eternal struggle.
