Following an unfortunate defeat against Roma at San Siro, Sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli talked to Milan TV and insisted the season is still long and he was satisfied with the performance despite the result.

“We have faced a great team, we dominated for 70 minutes. At our best moment, a great player like Dzeko cut off our legs, but we have to analyse what we did,” Mirabelli said.

“Our current form? I’m more focused on such performance and attitude than usual. It’s not normal to lose at home, but I’ve seen great steps forward that leave me calm and serene. Our goal has not change. We will fight to achieve it.

“There was no bad team as we were in the offensive phase. Roma suffered in some situations, but we could not score.

When asked about Montella and the recent rumors of another coach taking over, Mirabelli reassured the management supports both the team and the coach.

“First of all, I want to thank the fans who are close to us and have applauded at the end of the game. It is in these difficulties that the men come out and the Milan world has to square around the technician. We can still reach our goals, we are only seventh, I repeat, I saw good things today.

“We are only seven rounds in, we have a new team, so no Coach has a magic wand. You can’t get certain results straight away. We have a group of players who need to become a team, so as far as we are concerned, Montella is working well. We just have to hope that work brings important results.

“we’ve won 10 games, we’ve been through defeats, but we’re just in the beginning, talking about Montella is just a media thing , we have complete confidence in the team and the group. We will find our way, although now it seems winding, I’m almost quieter for losing with this lament that defeats against Lazio and Sampdoria. I try to get the positive details of today , although losing is never beautiful.

“We must try not to look at the table. Roma have a well-drilled unit who have been playing together for years. It’s not easy to face them and do as well as Milan did. We see positives in this defeat too.

After the international break, Milan will not have time to breathe as they face off against their long-time rival Inter Milan in a much anticipated derby.

“It is useless to say that it is a game completely out of the championship, the only thing we must not have is fear, but others must be afraid of us, not the other way around.

“It is a special game, we know it’s part of the season and yet a match all by itself. We want to thank our fans for showing such enthusiasm, as today they applauded the lads at the final whistle.

“Borini? I know him well and where you put him, he’ll always give his soul, we must all have his attitude. Let’s try together to bring Milan back to the top “
