MN: Bennacer trains individually again as fear grow he could miss Frosinone

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan squad are back in training this afternoon ahead of the game against Frosinone on Saturday night, but Ismael Bennacer did not join his team-mates.

Milan have Bennacer back perhaps a bit earlier than planned given that he went to represent Algeria in the African Cup of Nations, but they were knocked out in the group stage despite being among the pre-tournament favourites.

Not only that, but it emerged that Bennacer had an adductor problem having played just one of the three games in Algeria’s campaign, though an MRI scan did rule out any tear or strain.

The hope was that he would return to training with the rest of the squad today, but MilanNews report that he continued with his individual training programme.

If he were to return to working with his team-mates tomorrow, the former Empoli midfielder could still be part of Stefano Pioli’s squad for the away match against Frosinone.

Bennacer – who already missed last Saturday’s match against Bologna – is recovering from a small muscle problem suffered at AFCON as confirmed by the source.

It already seems unlikely that he would start the game given his absence, but Pioli could still make changes to the midfield department.
