Report: AC Milan ready bid to beat Arsenal to bargain deal for top Arteta target

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are readying a bid to beat Arsenal to Saint-Etienne defensive starlet Wesley Fofana, according to reports in France.

It was recently reported by Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it) Milan have abandoned their pursuit of Merih Demiral, who for Juventus is considered non-transferable, but they still wish to sign a centre-back.

In addition, the paper added that Milan and Barcelona have been talking about a deal for Jean-Clair Todibo for some time, but for now there is no deal, with Manchester United and Everton seemingly lurking among others.

They claimed though that the Rossoneri have already identified a potential alternative Wesley Fofana. The 19-year-old has played 11 games so far this season for Saint-Etienne in all competitions.

According to RMC Sport – as cited by Eurosport and the Mail – Milan face a battle with Arsenal for his signature, as new Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer of the player.

However, Paolo Maldini and Zvonomir Boban are lining up a bid of around €5million for the teenager to try and beat the competition, but his actual asking price in January is expected to be around €10m.
