Sky: Milan to focus on Chelsea midfielder as Benfica starlet looks likely to stay

By Oliver Fisher -

The chances of AC Milan signing Florentino Luis have faded as Benfica want to keep the player and help him grow, it is claimed.

The Rossoneri’s midfield department looks set to undergo changes this summer, as Lucas Biglia has left and Rade Krunic is attracting interest from Torino, while Lucas Paqueta could also leave.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reported earlier today that Milan have not given up on the idea of signing Florentino to reinforce the midfield, who is valued at €30million by Benfica.

According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio for Sky Italia though (via MilanNews), a meeting is underway between Jorge Jesus – the new Benfica boss – and Florentino’s agent.

Jesus would like to keep the player and rely on him for next season, so much so that the 20-year-old could also renew his contract and firm up his commitment to the Lisbon-based club.

Therefore the chances of Florentino moving to San Siro are now slim, while Milan are focusing on Chelsea’s Tiemoue Bakayoko for the moment.
