Three possible dates selected for Derby della Madonnina

By Oliver Fisher -

Three possible dates have been chosen for the rescheduled derby between Milan and Inter, a report claims.

Sunday’s meeting between the rivals was postponed because of the death of Davide Astori, a tragedy which affected players in both camps.

The rest of Sunday’s fixtures were also postponed and are set to be played on April 3 and 4, however the Rossoneri will be in Europa League action that week if they beat Arsenal and reach the quarter-finals.

Tuesday’s Corriere della Sera claims that the Derby could now be played on Wednesday April 25 if Gennaro Gattuso’s side fail to qualify for the Europa League semi-finals.

Failing that, there is the possibility of playing the game on May 9, and moving the Coppa Italia final against Juventus to May 25.

However, there is an added complication, as if Juventus reach the Champions League final they will play that on May 26.

Therefore, should Milan feature in the Europa League final on May 16 – and Juve reach the CL final – then the derby could be played May 20, and Week 38 would be pushed back to the following midweek.
