TMW: Milan back on West Ham striker Scamacca after Thuram failure

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan first missed out on the signature of Marcus Thuram, who opted to sign for Inter instead at the last second. As a result, the Rossoneri have now turned their attention to West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca again.

Giorgio Fuirlani and Geoffrey Moncada had been working on the Thuram signing for around 20 days and Stefano Pioli had spoken to the player several times. In spite of this, the Frenchman opted for Inter instead. On our Substack, who wrote more about the failure.

According to Niccolo Ceccarini for TMW, Milan have are once again interest in Scamacca and have opened talks with West Ham again. He could perhaps leave on a loan with an option to buy, but the figures have to be right for the English side.

Roma remain interested in the striker and could make life difficult for the Rossoneri. It should be mentioned, however, that Furlani and Moncada also have other targets for the attack and might not move decisively for Scamacca.

  1. This would actually be a smart signing for us, if managment decide to go with him. Loan deal means we wont need to invest money now until next summer and we can go all in for midfielder and right winger.

But Roma will get him probably and we’ll end up with someone like Arnautovic

  2. If any other club enters the competition for a player, we no longer have a chance of transferring! In the end, they will bring in an attacker who does not suit us at all, but no one wanted him more seriously and he is quite cheap. Unless Lecce or Vicenza come into the game, then we don’t stand a chance again! 🤭

  3. I like scamacca and it’s a cheap deal. Not sure how much he would be the bomber we’re looking for but he should be decent

  4. Roma have Jose, and have already added Aouar and N’Dicka…to a decent squad with Pellegrini and Dybala. They need a no9 where would you go?

This Milan under the American moron is dead. It’s all about money. If it wasn’t he wouldn’t have just cut the heart (Tonali) and soul (Maldini) out of the club

    F@ck Cardinale

    1. Furlani has probably realised in negotiations, that he (and a phonecall from Pioli) doesn’t have anywhere near the pull of Maldini.

However he’s likely buying time with Cardinale saying things like “the pipeline is building” and “deals are coming along nicely” while he somehow hopes for a miracle and some top players magically say yes to a club whose star has fallen dramatically in the past few weeks.

We must come across as an amateurish, laughable project and the sooner the current management realise this (and that will affect the brand, hence the clubs valuation €€€ which is all they really care about) the sooner it can be changed.

However I fear it will need one or two bad years for this reality to dawn. Gerry has taken us on the path to a vicious cycle, and unlike in the US its very hard to catch up the top teams once they pull away. So sad as we were on a good path to stay fiscally responsible and somewhat competitive.

Good luck to Sandro and Paolo in future, you’ll be missed.

  5. Roma isn’t not ‘interested’ in Scamacca, it has agreed personal terms with him. The hold up has been that West Ham won’t agree to loan with an option to buy. It will have to be an obligation to buy at a minimum.

Assuming Roma folds on the loan formula, the only thing that gets us to the table here is that Scamacca and Frattesi are supposed to be thick as thieves.

Otherwise Scamacca is going back home to Roma, not coming to Milan as our second choice having failed to sign Thuram.

  6. This actually milan like a fools. They failed to sign thuram for free and maybe soon Kamada. But in the end, the will buy scamacca for 30m fee. What a fools management.
