Tottenham 1-0 AC Milan: Player Ratings

By Alex Viola -

Milan’s superb first-half performance went unrewarded when they failed to find the back of the net and were punished following a subpar second half, in which a Calabria misplaced pass resulted in the only goal of the game.

Starting XI

Reina (6): Not much for the Spaniard to do in his first Rossoneri start. Pepe showed great composure when playing out from the back.

Abate (5): The veteran fullback didn’t have much to do on the evening in Minnesota, most of the play throughout the match went down the other flank.

Musacchio (6): A solid performance but nothing too spectacular from the Argentine. Did what was asked of him and that is about all.

Romagnoli (6.5): Very calm and composed outing from Romagnoli on his debut with the captain’s armband from the first whistle.

Calabria (4.5) The young Italian started the game brightly by putting a few good crosses into the area, and then slowly faded out of the match. Calabria was at fault for the Spurs opener after gifting the ball to Nkoudou.

Kessie (6.5):  Frank the Tank never seems to stop running and it was no different in a preseason friendly. The Ivorian was one of Milan’s brightest players on the night. His physical presence was felt by a rather inexperienced Tottenham midfield.

Locatelli (6): Nearly gifted the North London club on the night after being careless in possession, however besides that he was pretty good overall with some good passes and showing a bit of skill for Gattuso’s men.

Calhanoglu (7.5): Easily the best player on the field tonight for either team, the Turk hardly put a foot wrong. His crossing was on par every time and Hakan nearly equalised from a free kick.

Suso (5.5): Not really involved in the 45 minutes he was given, yet put in some teasing deliveries, including one on his right foot which Cutrone really should’ve scored.

Cutrone (5.5): Milan’s top scorer from last campaign always seemed to be in the right place at the right time and had the lion share of opportunities that threatened the Spurs goal, yet failed to convert any, which he really should’ve scored.

Borini (5.5): Another player who didn’t really seem to get into the flow of the match, and did not offer much of a threat throughout the match.

Substitutes

Donnarumma (5.5): Got a hand on the Nkoudou goal, which he maybe could’ve done a bit better on but made up for it with a great 1v1 save on the same player. The young keeper nearly gifted Nkoudou a goal after an extremely sloppy pass.

Halilovic (6): Not a bad first impression from the Croat. Alen played a great through ball at the beginning of the second half.

Kalinic (5): Typical. He brought absolutely nothing to the Milan attack when needing a goal.

Antonelli (4.5): Awful ball towards Kalinic in the 91st minute when looking for an equaliser.

Jose Mauri (6): The Italo-Argentine picked up a yellow in a friendly, however, he showed some exciting flashes when dribbling with quick changes of pace. Sliced his last-minute strike wide.

Tsadjout (6): The first of the Primavera players to taste action this summer- and it wasn’t a bad outing. His pace causes some of the Spurs defenders problems.
