Vitiello: Bennacer ‘will leave’ Milan in January as loan transfer looms

Ismael Bennacer’s time in the red and black shirt has seemingly come to an end. After sustaining an injury that could keep him out for around three months, AC Milan have already made a decision on the January window, a report claims.

Bennacer sustained the injury while on international duty with Algeria, spotted in a wheelchair as he left the country to return to Italy. In short, everything suggests that it’s a serious injury and he could be on the sidelines for about three months.

According to Antonio Vitiello, in his latest column for MilanNews, it’s no secret that Milan wanted to offload the player during the summer. And with this injury taken into consideration, we may have seen the last of the midfielder in the red and black shirt.

“Milan hoped to sell Bennacer in the summer, take home about €30m and bet everything on Manu Konee. However, nothing concrete arrived from Saudi Arabia, while Marseille only offered a loan. The problem with Bennacer is that he has a net salary of €4m and he’s also injured often.

“It’s difficult to sell him for such figures. But in January he will leave, probably on loan. His time in red and black seems to be over,” he wrote.

It remains to be seen if there will be any suitors in January but if Milan truly are open to a loan, one would have to assume someone will jump at the opportunity.

  1. Who is going to pick up injured Benny in January when that will be his return date from the injury? Based on what sample size?

The truth is, his latest injury screwed us. We won’t likely be able to offload him until the summer, and that’s provided he doesn’t get injured anymore. Which is a big if.

    1. I mentioned Ricci as a great target for summer and people laughed at me. Torino are tough negotiators they wont sell him for less than 50m and we certainly won’t pay that amount. Thus, its a big lost opportunity.

    1. Issue there is that Bennacer earns 7 mil gross pr. year so i doubt that Torino can or would be willing to offer him that amount as Duvan Zapata is their highest earner at 5 mil gross pr. year. Besides of that why would Bennacer want to join them when he plays at Milan and his agent in recent months said that he would like to join the Saudi league when his contract expires in two years.

      1. Yea it wont hurt to try. Bennacer is still a good player and he is actually valued more then Ricci at the moment, so that plus some cash might be tempting for Torino. As for Bennacer himself if he wants to still play in good league Torino is not bad option. I think he is aware that his level is not what it used to be. But if he want to cash in and retire then yea not much that you can do, he will prob wait for Saudis. They might not come tho.

        1. He almost cost half on top of what Torino currently pays Zapata so I really doubt its realistic but sure if all 3 parts could agree upon it I wouldn’t really oppose it either but think its just a castle in the sky.

    2. They would have to be crazy and dumb to swap a promising, excellent young midfielder like Ricci for an injury-prone player in the end of his career like Bennacer.

  2. Bennacer has still 3 year of contract. And his amortised value is very low , 2.4 million after this season.
So, that means, any sale is capital gain, and If is he going to be loaned out, and play little in next team I think any club can give for his service around 20 million.
Later on he can go to Saudi club.

Most important is if Bennacer understand that he can’t keep spot in Milan after yet another injury which than open doors for exit.

  3. We cannot afford to sell midfielders, we don’t have the numbers or quality.
So keeping Benny is the only sane thing to do at least until summer.
Hopefully he gets back to his best soon.
Either way, why would we sell in the dip.

Given our form and lack of midfield options, fans will be delighted to see him back when he is ready

    1. He won’t back to his best ever again.
He screwed us, also because he doesn’t want to make efforts to play for us anymore. We should have to offload this bag of sht a long time ago

      1. Wow, that is how you speak about players who have represented the club well, won the 1st league title in years, never caused any trouble. What a “fan” you are

  4. The only way we’re getting rid of Benny is a loan deal with option to buy (which won’t be triggered). Then we’ll loan him out again. And again. Until he leaves for free. We’ve seen this before sooooo many times already.
