Vrenna: “We had a deal with Milan for Cutrone, but Montella pulled the plug”

By Isak Möller -

Raffaele Vrenna, general director of Crotone, spoke to Tuttosport about Patrick Cutrone, who was close to joining his club in the summer.

“We had and still have excellent relations with Milan’s management; Massimiliano Mirabelli and Marco Fassone. They had already given us the green light, meaning we had fought off the competition of other clubs. Last summer, we almost managed to close the deal.

“However, then he played very well in the pre-season, as well as the Europa League qualifying rounds. Montella decided to declare him unsaleable, especially after the opening Serie A game against us, in which Cutrone scored a goal.”
