GdS: €100m spent and more to come – Amorim wants Leao replacement already

AC Milan have already spent €100 million this summer, and there are no plans to slow that spending down, according to a report.

The mercato is well underway at Milan after an initial delay. Indeed, more than €100m has now been splashed and the squad is not done. Everyone is aware that further signings are needed and this is why Gerry Cardinale has offered his manager a €250m budget.

Of course, sales will be accounted into that number, and one of the big focuses will be Rafael Leao. So far, there has been very little interest in him. However, that could change with Portugal out of the World Cup.

Leao to help fund €250m

As Gazzetta dello Sport writes, as seen below, no one in Italy has come close to the money spent by the Rossoneri so far. RedBird want to enter a new era and signing a top-tier striker and defender is proof of that.

To enter that new era, though, the past must be moved on from, and this will include Leao’s departure. It is clear as day that this will be the case, and clubs must start to come forward with offers.

The replacement ideas

Despite the lack of interest so far, though, there is already a contingency plan for his replacement. Indeed, Konstantino Karestas is one of the names liked internally – a left-footed, technically gifted #10, who can also play on the wing. He would cost around €40m to bring to San Siro.

Alternatively, the names of Can Uzun (valued at €45m) and Kerim Alajbegovic (valued around €30m) are floating around the Rossoneri sphere. In short, there will be no waiting around for Leao’s sale to start thinking of names.

The process has already begun to replace him and the Diavolo are not waiting around.
