Tuttosport: Milan’s draw vs. Udinese another sign of failure – injuries becoming a determining factor

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s draw against Udinese on Wednesday night can be classed as another failure in what has been a difficult 2021 so far.

As Tuttosport writes this morning (via MilanNews), Milan – against this Udinese team – could and should have done more. The team not only survived but thrived for months in full and often total emergency in terms of selection problems, but is now showing signs of failure.

The problem for Stefano Pioli this season – especially in 2021 so far – is that as soon as Milan have returned to winning, found themselves again full of unavailable players or players not in top form and therefore they are at risk of stopping. Pioli, against Udinese, was forced to play without Ibrahimovic, Calhanoglu, Calabria, Bennacer, Tomori and Saelemaekers, in addition to losing Tonali at the interval and not having Mandzukic.

More than half the starting team are out and there are few alternatives on the bench. As mentioned, no one wants to make excuses, but absences are becoming a determining factor.
