GdS: ‘Milan revolution’ – stars among 14 players who could leave in the summer

The defeat in the Coppa Italia final has drastically reduced AC Milan’s chance of getting a European spot, and that could lead to major changes in the squad.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) report, a comeback in the league would be needed in the last two round of Serie A, starting with the match at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma on Sunday evening. Not impossible, but certainly tough.

Beyond the prestige and the sporting aspect, not playing in Europe in 2025-26 would also be damaging on an economic level. Translated: without the money guaranteed by UEFA, we need to do things differently. How? By selling players, also to try to fix a team that failed on the field.

Eyes on Manchester City

Milan have recorded a profit in their accounts in the last two years, but in between there was also the substantial capital gain from the sale of Sandro Tonali. Another major sale to balance the books cannot be ruled out.

The main suspect is Tijjani Reijnders, who – thanks to the best season of his career – has attracted the interest of several European big clubs. In particular Manchester City, who are already ready to present an initial offer between €50-60m.

Milan, also strengthened in their position by the renewal until 2030 that the Dutchman signed a few months ago, start from a higher valuation. At least €70m would be needed to sit down and discuss.

The stars and the others

Without Europe, the prospect of staying in Milan could also change for other players. Theo Hernandez, whose contract expires in 2026, is an example. Real Madrid have been linked, while a renewal with Milan would only be possible for figures much lower than Theo’s initial requests.

Mike Maignan is in a similar situation. The goalkeeper verbally reached an agreement with the Rossoneri for around €5m net per year, but the goalkeeper’s fluctuating performances meant that the deal never got to the point of signing. Now, his future is still uncertain.

Just as the departure of other stars cannot be ruled out 100%, starting with Rafa Leao. The Portuguese has not been able to make that leap forward that would have consecrated him as the (technical) leader of the team.

At the moment he has no offers, only rumours of interest from Barcelona and Saudi Arabia, and not even the firm will to leave. If before Milan would never have considered offers under €110m, today the feeling is that the scenario has changed.

Walker, Joao Felix, Sottil, Florenzi and Abraham will empty their locker at Milanello at the end of the season. While for Tomori, Thiaw (strong interest from Bayern Munich), Emerson Royal, Loftus-Cheek and Chukwueze, possible offers will be evaluated.

  1. So whole starting XL except Gabbia….but finally Gabbia will be the first person to move out…
    That’s the magic

    1. Gabbia sucks man. He should be sold as well. As matter of fact Thiaw is the only defender worth keeping because of his age and there is a lot of upside in him getting better.

I don’t even understand why Gabbia is choosen over Thiaw when Thiaw is the better defender. He’s better in the air at crosses, better at playing the ball from the back and he’s better at reading the game and positional play.

Gabbia should not be starting for any team.

      1. Gabbia is needed for the regulation list he is home grown player, Thiaw sucks struggling either in the air and on the ground, he can be sold in don’t give a damn

      2. I agree. Thiaw is the only one who can play out the back, yet he doesn’t start anymore. Gabbia, Tomori and Pavlo were all awful.

  2. simple. Because Thiaw has constantly been injured. I’m not going to say Gabbia sucks, but he isnt Milan starting 11 caliber. He’s a good rotational player. The guy who every now and then has stellar performances but has a ceiling. Ideal to play against mid table teams or when the team has upcoming big matches and need to rest a start player.

  3. I am not bothered by who will be sold… But who will be their replacement??? Some random 15-20 million worthy players? I thought we were becoming next Roma, Lazio, Fiorentina type of team but I I didn’t expect we are going down to level like Torino, Genoa type of club.
    Keep sucking management’s co cks

  4. The final nail in the coffin for the hope that we have had about a new championship generation. This moneyball management completely destroyed the team and they think they can make a new one. This is even worse than the banter era. Back then we knew we didn’t had any money while this management is brain dead when it comes to football. Rip Ac Milan, hopefully these bozos will sell the club so we can have hope again for better times

  5. we cannot sell the “Legendary Club” thing anymore. player nowaday are “smarter” to think about their career. wether its a salary, or above of it, a club ambition. and i dont see our Milan is a club with ambition anymore with this pathetic management.

  6. Please sell all the players, submit several Milan primavera players. With no European football next season, it’s time to slim wage budget and reset the team…

  7. The entire team are full of donkeys. Period.
Just like Man United, a full rebuild is required.
Look at it like this, if both teams swapped shirts, no one would know.

  8. Sell all player and make milan go to seri b,i hope u cardinale u…. Lose out ur money for buying milan,if u don’t want invest on milan don’t buy it don’t make excuse ffp for investment……
