Rafael Leao could, keyword, leave AC Milan this summer. However, it will not be for the lucrative €175 million that has been on the table before.
Whenever clubs have come forward for Leao in recent years, they have always been shown towards the release clause in his deal. It has always been that simple. He was never unsellable, but for him to be sold, a lot of difficult questions would need to be asked and difficult conversations had.

Now, the difficulty of both is lower; it cannot be denied. Whilst he is not being pushed out of the door, he is not exactly being pulled back in either.
Leao’s true value
So, how much can Leao be sold for? More importantly, how much will he be sold for if he does leave this summer? We’ve already taken an extensive look at the situation on our Substack, and Gazzetta dello Sport have taken a look of their own.
They are in agreement that the €175m is dead in the water. There is almost no chance that such a fee is paid to the Rossoneri this summer.
After spending €24m on him in the summer of 2019, he will only sell for more; that is a guarantee. However, it will not be a nine-figure number. Instead, projections value him between the €40-75m range.
Still a healthy sum, but not what was imagined years ago if he was going to be sold. Would this be enough for the sale to be seriously considered? It’ll be seen this summer…

And we put Ben Dixon to score 15 in one year…
The sad part is that even at 50mil, they will make a capital gain on him and won’t mind offloading him. So on and on we go. Buy then sell then buy again then sell again. No real plan.
