GdS: From €235m to €145m – value of star Milan trio has plummeted

The winter mercato only closed earlier this month, but the summer mercato is already being considered by many, and AC Milan are in a troubling position.

In a season where almost everything has gone wrong for Milan, the club can still continue to fall, and it seems there is a very real chance of this happening in the summer.

Sergio Conceicao could leave the club after only a few months in charge, whilst another reset could be on the cards with several stars possibly able to leave.

As Gazzetta dello Sport reports, this will maybe not have the same benefits as it would have done previously as the values of the big three have all dropped substantially.

Mike Maignan’s market value has dropped from €55 million to €35m, which is a staggering difference – though, it could rise once the French goalkeeper signs his new contract if it is still going to arrive. Then, Theo Hernandez’s value has also dropped from €70m to €30m – a huge difference, especially considering the prices that were sought in the summer.

Finally, Rafael Leao has seen his value drop below the €100m mark and it now sits at €80m, which is still a pretty penny admittedly, but with rumours about his position, it is not great.

It is worth noting that whilst the club would not have to accept a bid at €30m for Theo for example, this is simply what the players could be worth on the market, which is still quite worrying.

  1. Hey, Christan Pulisic came in for €20.8M, and TransferMarkt has him listed now with a market value of €50M.

Who do you think Red Bird will sell?

    1. RedBird will NEVER sell Christian Pulisic. He is American, the owner is American, Christian is the captain of the US National Team, and revered in America, being the most popular American football player. He represents merchandise and ticket sales by American fans. The size of the AC Milan fanbase in America has dramatically increased after Puli was hired. Don’t also forget that his exposure will increase even more given that the next FIFA World Cup is in America.

He is money in the bank for Gerry Cardinale therefore the owner will NEVER authorize his sale. Puli is the most secure player at AC Milan in terms of sales, regardless of his market value. Simply put, if the clowns who manage Milan consider selling him, Gerry will simply veto it.

By the way, Christian has, a few days ago, published a post on his official X account, saying that he is very happy at AC Milan and has no intention whatsoever of going anywhere. Even in the very unlikely idea that Gerry would not veto his sale (he would!), Christian himself would veto it, given that he is very content with playing for AC Milan and living in the stupendous city of Milano. Just look at how well he is learning Italian. He is the grandchild of an Italian grandmother and loves the culture.

Stop spreading baseless rumors. Christian is not going anywhere.

        1. Garage Misha

He is the reason why we lost dynamo Zagreb and had to play Extra CL Matches.

It theo has to be sold cuz of his error, then so should Musha.

He is a much as to be blamed like Theo.

Pulsic is good but Musha is sht. Sell him you Americans

  2. Well, these numbers are just numbers. Theo’s seem low, all others are about right I guess. Mike is not getting younger, and definitely not better, so fair enough (probably a bit high tbh)

But if we’re going by market values, the increase of Reijnders, Pulisic, and Pavlovic should offset the three above. The thing is, we are not competing for market values.

If we start playing good, and getting results, everything else will follow. And we do have the squad, and the ability to do this. We’ve shown this in all of our recent defeats. We just have to get together and pull ourselves out of this funk were stuck in.

  3. Why in Hades are we still arguing about who is gonna take penalty kicks??? Puli should have 3 more goals from the spot. He was due to miss sooner for later but arguing on the pitch with an ego!!! Reality check. Clean out the idiots!

    1. Why? Mike has been horrible. He was directly responsible for two recent defeats with two huge blunders (the away game against Feyenoord, and the Torino game; we wouldn’t have lost without Mike’s failures). Not only that, but he’s been eating near post goals over and over, the entire season. There are several goalkeepers in Serie A much better than Mike, and even the very young Torriani (who lacks experience and muscle mass) has played better than Mike when he had to help the first team with Mike and Sportiello injured.

Since the summer I was saying that we should sell Mike and buy Di Gregorio. Unfortunately it didn’t happen and Di Gregorio ended up with Juve.

The Mike of the Scudetto season doesn’t exist any longer. He’s been in frank decline ever since, and his stats have consistently worsened, season after season.

I’m grateful to Mike for the Scudetto, but currently, he is a mediocre goalkeeper who is costing us points.

      1. “Since the summer I was saying that we should sell Mike and buy Di Gregorio. Unfortunately it didn’t happen and Di Gregorio ended up with Juve.”

I was saying the same thing. Di Gregorio’s cost was fraction of what clubs would have paid for MM16. Now? LOL. Lucky to get a bag of chips for him.

Sell Mike and buy Milinkovic-Savic from Torino. He’ll do fine. And we’d save a lot on the salary too.

  4. La Gazzetta is a pro Juve outlet. So biased. They constantly out out these useless articles but would be the first ones to scream for Juve to buy each of the players on the cheap if we sold

That being said – our club under Redbird are a complete mess. 2 years removed from a Scudetto and UCL semi finals to this: 8th place in league; knocked out of UCL; fired a coach and likely to fire another within one season; alienating players; multiple failed transfers with millions and millions wasted; Futuro in shambles – on its 3rd coach?; owner and president (Gerry) who is too busy to care about the club; a club run by inexperienced people (Furlani, Ibra, Moncada); players drop off in form; no clear project…..I can go on

All this starts from the TOP. Only way out is for Gerry to sell to an owner who actually wants to win titles and not just make $$$$$
