CM: €50m duo then a quality winger – Milan’s initial plan for the summer mercato

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are currently enjoying their Scudetto celebrations but planning is already underway ahead of next season, with a number of signings targeted to bolster the squad confirm that Sven Botman is now one step away from wearing the Milan shirt in an operation worth around €30m, with talks having been ongoing for months. However, the Dutchman will be part of a €50m double deal with Lille involving Renato Sanches, who should sign a four-year contract worth €4m net per season.

In addition to the Lille duo and Divock Origi, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara want to sign a quality right winger for Stefano Pioli. The names of Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo and Marco Asensio of Real Madrid remain on the list.

However, surprise names could also emerge as Maldini is working on at least three other alternative options, as he is determined to see him Milan grow even more after the Scudetto.

  1. Pls no fkn Berardi. Yesterday proved yet again he does not show up on big games. He is a solid winger for the league and for a small club is fine but has never proven himself when playing bigger competition and disappears on the international stage. Theo destroyed him yesterday ,(and Theo isn’t exactly known for his defensive abilities (although he has gotten better thankfully)) For 30M we can do way better. Spend that kind of cash on Lang, Antony, Asenio, etc….Please no Berardi and no Scamacca – especially not for 80M total. Rather spend 80M on Darwin Nunez and call it a day.

    1. I’ve been saying Asensio for a while. He is a champion. Real Madrid born and bred, with multiple league and champions league titles there. We need experienced leaders as well as quality, as Ibra and Giroud have one more season max with Milan. I appreciate Lang and Antony, but given the relative youth and inexperience of the squad I think we’d benefit from getting Asensio, particularly for the CL, who is still only 26 anyway, which goes to show how much he’s done already.

      1. You guys are hilarious with this Asensio nonsense. You want a zero assist man (albeit 10 goals) in Asensio instead of 15 goals 14 assists in Berardi.

Also even though Berardi didn’t score against us this last game doesn’t mean he didn’t own us and especially Theo all the other times we did face him. Milan is the team he craps on most.
It’s one thing to not like the guy but if ur unbiased the stats speak for themselves and he knows the league

    2. Why don’t you tell us about the home match against Sassuolo? Romagnoli still has back pains and has been through trauma since then. Watch the Sassuolo’s third goal and you will understand.

  2. its neither assensio or berardi is the answer. milan already have chaka traore, just give him a chance just like we gave kalulu this season. You’ll be suprised.

  3. With Redbird potentially the next owners of Milan, I think the big name players will be out of reach. Berardi is not what we need! I wouldn’t mind taking a chance on Adama Traore, he’s a beast of a player. With his contract expiring soon and in Pioli he’d have a coach who could bring out the best in him.

  4. Go to Brazil or Argentina for a cheaper right winger, there are great dribblers and goal involvement players there and build him like we did on Kaka, Madrid on Vinicius, Ajax on Anthony

  5. with the additions of Botman, Origi and Sanches, think about how incredibly young this team is nad how we can be great for so many years to come. Just looking at a potential lineup with current ages below:
    Leao-22 Sanches-24 Saele-22
    Bennacer-24 Tonali-22
    Theo-24 Botman-22 Tomori-24 Kalulu-22

That’s incredible. I know we will be going after a stronger RW player (Nkunku is only 24, Berardi is 27 and Asensio is 26; and of course if Kalulu starts at CB instead of Botman, then Calabria is only 25 at right back).

What an amazing job building this team M&M have done!!!!
