A Bola: Porto striker left unsettled as Milan contact his ‘close circle’ over move

AC Milan have reignited their interest in signing Mehdi Taremi from FC Porto and a deal could be possible in the final days of the window, a report claims.

A report from A Bola states that Taremi is having a start to the season that is below expectations and many question whether the Iranian deserves to continue to be in Sérgio Conceição’s starting line-up.

His performances against Benfica in the Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup, in Aveiro, and against Moreirense (away) and Farense (at home) have not been at the level that fans have come to expect.

This has led to some suggestions that his head has been turned. Interest from some clubs has contributed to this, especially from Milan, who in the last few hours have ‘contacted the player’s close circle’ in an attempt to lower Porto’s €30m demands.

A Bola write that the approaches from Milan – plus Inter and Tottenham before – ‘ended up messing with the subconscious’ of Taremi and on the field he is showing a ‘clear crisis of confidence’.

Sources in Italy suggest that Taremi has an agreement with the Rossoneri over personal terms, but the management do not intend to pay over €12-15m given he has a deal expiring in 2024.

After starting against Benfica, Moreirense and Farense, it is questionable whether Conceição will maintain confidence in the 31-year-old, who scored 22 league goals last season.
