Mike Maignan seems to be back to his best for club and country, and French media have been heavily complimentary of the AC Milan goalkeeper after his performance against Belgium.

Everyone knows about the quality of Maignan, but it is fair to say the past 12 months have been difficult for him. There were repeated questions about his level after Milan conceded the most goals of the European qualifying teams in Serie A, but this did not reduce any interest in his services.

Throughout the summer, questions floated around the Rossoneri and their goalkeeper, with several top clubs surveying the situation, considering Maignan’s deal expires in the summer of 2026. However, with a new contract being worked on, there is hope that he will remain at the club for the foreseeable.

With the good news of an extension, there have been better performances, and the goalkeeper looks to have re-found his best level, especially after a summer spent re-finding ‘Magic Mike’. The Diavolo are not the only squad benefitting from his increased level, though.

As Le Parisien (via Milan News) writes, ‘In Belgium, Maignan proved once again that he is a real boss with Les Bleus. The phenomenal 29-year-old goalkeeper stunned his opponents in Les Bleus’ 1-2 victory in Belgium on Monday, confirming once again that he is one of the best specialists in his position’.
