Abraham believes Milan ‘deserved’ victory but admits boos from Roma fans ‘hurt’

Tammy Abraham believes that AC Milan ran out deserved winners against Roma, and admitted it hurt to be jeered by his old fans.

When Abraham got the nod to start against Roma it felt like he had a point to prove for a couple of reasons. Firstly he was facing the side he is on loan from, while secondly the man on the bench waiting to take his place is January signing Santiago Gimenez.

The Englishman scored twice in the first half to really send a message. For the first, a ferocious shot from Tijjani Reijnders was only parried to Theo Hernandez, whose cross to the back post was perfectly headed back across goal and in.

The second was a move started with a sweeping pass from Musah to get out of the press, then Theo took it forward and slipped in the English forward, who finished confidently and gave the Frenchman a second assist.

Abraham spoke to SportMediaset after the full-time whistle to give thoughts on his brace and on a job well done by the team against his parent club, with MilanNews transcribing his comments.

A good performance and win…

“I am very happy with the victory. We deserved it. But now we have to rest and be ready for Empoli.”

What do you think of Gimenez?

“He’s a good guy.”

The Roma fans booed you…

“The boos from the Roma fans hurt me, because everyone knows what Roma meant to me. I didn’t celebrate when I scored. But that’s okay, that’s football.”

  1. Sorry about that unless you chose to be a third striker next season for Milan then we can sign you Milan will be on fire next season and with quality players

    1. Behind who?

Our current striker are Gimenez, Tammy, Camarda, Jovic. Camarda is too raw, he need some regular game at Serie B/Serie A. Jovic… don’t really understand his case. Fully fit and in form Tammy can go toe to toe with Gimenez.

I highly doubt that we will buy another striker unless Conceicao will go full 4-4-2.

Best case scenario for summer will be :
      – Tammy in permanently (15m)
      – Ricci (25-30m)
      – extend Felix loan with added buyout clause for around 30-35m
      – Okafor, Origi, Florenzi, CDK, Saelemakers, Royal out permanently.
      – Sottil, depend on his performances.
      – CB is settled, unless its big money hopefully all 4 will stay.
      – Walker in permanently (5m?) Will be Kjaer-esque signing.

      1. I think we need to get a better coach for the Futuro team, so Camarda can have more consistency. Bonera has done a pretty bad job with it.

  2. I wish he could stay at Milan. Yes, he’s had some ups and downs this season, but he looks to be on the up. I really hope we can keep him and Joao Felix… but I know that’ll be a tall order…

    1. Fully fit and on form Tammy can fight for starting position against anyone…

Joao Felix, possible we extend his loan and add option/obligation to buy for around 30m if he can keep his motivation and play until June.

      1. Well, he had just one good game. Let’s calm down. Finally he didn’t miss his chances to tell the truth. He didn’t create anything on his own.
Abraham is known for his misses in his career.

I am happy to keep him as a backup striker but even in his prime, he cannot fight for starting spot ‘against anyone’
