MN: Absence of Kjaer weighs heavily on Milan – the latest on his recovery

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been playing for three months without one of its most important players in Simon Kjaer, but the Dane is on the road back to fitness.

MilanNews recalls how Milan have been going on since the beginning of December without Simon Kjaer, and with the Dane available and able to start games then things might have been different in the crucial moments of the season.

He was and is excellent at managing the difficulties during complicated games and supporting the team from a mental and psychological point of view.

The Dane in the course of his time at Milan has shown that he is a guide for the team, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic is, but with the former Sevilla man out since 1 December due to the rupture of his anterior cruciate he has been missing.

He is now almost halfway through his rehabilitation program which has been estimated at six months. His season ended prematurely and he is working to return in the best possible way in view of the next season, while the summer preseason will be important to understand how he will return after a serious injury.

  1. Love Kjaer, and can definitely use him back but no we are not losing because we don’t have Kjaer. We are failing at the same time as last season for the same reason. We are awful and harmless in attack. Right now we are so bad that if Leao doesn’t have a standout game we have no offensive presence. Yet we are looking at a mid and CB as our main summer transfer targets. So brilliant!

    1. Milan obviously not awful or harmless in attack. This year Milan scored:
      – 3 goals against Roma
      – 3 goals against Venezia
      – 2 goals against Inter
      – 4 goals against Lazio
      – 3 goals against Genoa

The only match where Milan can’t score was against Juventus with 0-0 draw. And against Spezia, Salernitana, and Udinese, Milan scored first. Heck, for Spezia and Udinese, we could got more goal and win if not for the stupid referee made bad decision.

Can Milan scored more goals? Certainly. But the main problem here is in defense. We had plenty of errors in the back. Mike made a huge blunder against Salernitana, Tomori looks off after recovered from injuries, and Romagnoli always a mixed of bag / inconsistent. Even Theo and Calabria also looks off in some match. What needs to be fix is the defense.

I missed Kjaer. He’s a solid wall and can boost his partner performance. Hopefully he’ll be back for next season cause Tomori, Botman, Kalulu, and Gabbia alone are not enough.

  2. You’re way off. Stats can help here and there listing some off but they often don’t mean too much and you shouldn’t look too far into them, that’s what the non-athletes do. When you watch these games you can feel it, you can see it happening… We have several games where you can tell we are struggling and it’s when we don’t look threatening in attack, it’s a fact. Defensive mistakes happen for every single team out there especially when you can’t put the game to bed when you should or when you can’t control the game like we should be able to. Every team is susceptible to defensive errors when those things happen. Our weakness right now is 100% attack. Just do me a favor and imagine if Leao wasn’t having a standout season, how bad would we be up front…?
