CorSera: Rebic gives Milan ‘intensity and quality’ while crucial duo are sidelined

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is enjoying being able to call upon an in-form Ante Rebic while his attack currently has little depth.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has only made one substitute appearance from the bench, while Olivier Giroud has missed the last few games first due to Covid and then from back pain and with Pietro Pellegri still behind in condition, Rebic has stepped up as a striker again.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) praises the Croatian and remarks how Milan have barely missed Ibra or Giroud thanks to his exploits, with two goals and two assists in the last three games against Lazio, Liverpool and Juventus. Obviously at Milanello they hope to have both of them back soon, but Rebic has shown he can be an emergency centre-forward.

Pioli also highlighted the excellent contribution of Rebic: “He has great intensity and quality, he plays in all roles, he is helping us with Olivier and Ibra out.” The hope is that Rebic continues his form tomorrow against Venezia.
