Official: AC Milan vs. Bologna starting XIs – one change as Pioli opts for consistency

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has made just one change to his starting line-up for the game against Bologna compared to the team that beat Cagliari.

Pioli has opted for consistency and you can certainly understand him, given that just eight games remain and this certainly isn’t the time for experiments. Pierre Kalulu keeps his spot at the back as Alessio Romagnoli is suffering from inflammation of his left adductor, which you can read more about here.

The big talking point ahead of the game has been the trequartista, also known as the attacking midfielder. Franck Kessie has done quite well in that position but was benched against Cagliari and has been benched this time out too. It’s another chance for Brahim Diaz to shine, therefore.

The only change is in the midfield as Sandro Tonali is back after getting some rest last time out.

Official Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali; Messias, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

Bench: Mirante, Tătăruşanu; Ballo-Touré, Florenzi, Gabbia; Bakayoko, Castillejo, Kessie, Krunić, Saelemaekers; Ibrahimović, Rebić.

Official Bologna XI (3-5-2): Skorupski; Soumaoro, Medel, Theate; Hickey, Schouten, Svanberg, Aebischer, Dijks; Barrow, Arnautović.

Bench:Bardi; Binks, Bonifazi, Kasius, Mbaye; Soriano, Vignato, Viola; Falcinelli, Orsolini, Sansone, Santander.
