Tuttosport: Milan add 42-goal PSV Eindhoven star to list of attacking targets

By Oliver Fisher -

A new name is on AC Milan’s list of transfer targets as the management have set their sights on PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo, a report claims.

According to a report from Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Milan are very much keeping their options open with regards to signing a new forward, and Gakpo is a profile that they like because he can play virtually any position on the frontline including both wings, as a playmaker and as a striker.

Directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara could turn to the Dutchman in the coming days and weeks, especially if they were to fail to land the current main target Charles De Ketelaere, with Club Brugge continuing to make things difficult.

The 23-year-old had an excellent 2021-22 campaign with PSV, amassing 21 goals and 15 assists across 46 appearances with the Eredivisie side, which is also likely to mean that he has a high asking price. He has 42 goals in 134 appearances for them overall.

  1. Ugh, queue “Leeds, Newcastle United, PSG have suddenly expressed an interest in PSV Star” as why waste money on a scouting team when you just wait for Milan to bid on someone and then outbid them.

  2. Scouting is probably obsolete nowadays. The job is made by agents. If a player is a talented young prospect you do not need scout but open your ears to agents. That’s why agents are so powerful nowadays. On the other hand, Gakpo is already a proven player. So no need for scouting. A scouter should perhaps identify no name players and bring them in as a bet

  3. I’m Dutch, this guy is overrated, not even done in our own league, need another year, ziyech was by far by far the best in Holland and even he struggled. Don’t buy him especially for 40M, that’s was psv want
