AC Milan turn 121 years old: The messages on social media from the club president and legends

By Oliver Fisher -

On this day back in 1899, the Milan Cricket and Football Club were officially founded, led by the son of a Nottingham butcher: Herbert Kilpin.

With 18 league titles, Milan are also the joint-second most successful club in Serie A along with city rivals Inter. They have also won the Coppa Italia five times, and the Supercoppa Italiana seven times.

Milan’s 18 FIFA and UEFA trophies is the fourth highest out of any club (joint with Boca Juniors), and the most out of any Italian club. The Rossoneri have won a joint record three Intercontinental Cups and one FIFA Club World Cup, seven European Cup/Champions League titles (an Italian record),[9] the UEFA Super Cup a joint record five times and the Cup Winners’ Cup twice.

They are quite simply put one of the biggest sporting institutions in the world, with countless legends to list off such as Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Gianni Rivera, Kaka, Gunnar Nordahl, Marco van Basten, Pippo Inzaghi, Andriy Shevchenko and many others.

It’s days like today that make us realise how lucky we are to support the club we do.
