AC Milan vs. Lazio: Live updates and commentary from the Serie A clash

PHEW! That almost ended in disaster for Milan, but the referee used common sense and didn’t award what would have been an incredibly silly penalty. Another 1-0 win for Massimiliano Allegri’s men too, which isn’t exactly surprising given the playing style. Top of the league!

The referee deems that Marusic committed a foul on Pavlovic BEFORE the handball! Would have been a shocking penalty to award anyway, so definitely the right call by the referee.

The manager is sent off for interfering with the VAR check.

That would be so, so harsh…

Lazio appealing for a handball but based on the replays, Pavlovic had it close to his body, and it wasn’t even stretched or anything.

Hard to see what exactly happened there but it’s a booking anyway.

Off: Nkunku.

Romagnoli is carded but Milan are calling for a red card, Saelemaekers was in a very good position…

On: Loftus-Cheek.

Off: Fofana.

Rather harsh yellow card, even if his arm was in and area Castellanos’ face there.

Leao is denied by the keeper, decent header but perhaps could have been better.

Fofana does absolutely brilliantly to run from Milan’s half to the outside of Lazio’s penalty box, beating several players in the process. However, just as he’s about to shoot, he touches the ball with his other leg and completely misses.

Fofana fires just wide from a decent position. He seems to have gained some confidence from the involvement in the goal.

Our No.10 responds! Wonderful move by Milan, with Tomori making a run down the right flank before picking out Leao inside the box for a tap-in. Kudos to Fofana too for his pass to the Englishman. A simple but very effective attack, it must be said.

Let’s hope for better football in the second half, as the first 45 minutes were truly very poor from the Rossoneri.

Very poor first half from both teams, it has to be said, with many mistakes and few chances. Maignan made a fantastic save at the start of the game but aside from that, neither of the keepers were called into action.

Good chance for Tomori on the volley, as Bartesaghi finds Nkunku and he flicks it it towards the Englishman.

It’s been a rather poor half by Milan. They are struggling to make something useful happen in attack, with Leao and Nkunku failing completely so far. Oh, in case I forgot to say, Zaccagni is still on the pitch for Lazio.

Zaccagni is down with an injury and the play is halted. Him getting subbed off would be a huge boost for Milan.

Fofana has been winning the ball back a lot but he hasn’t been particularly good in possession, making it a frustrating display.

A pretty reckless challenge, truth be told, but it comes after the referee removed a corner for Milan so tempers are running high.
