AC Milan Women beaten 2-0 by Roma as tough start continues – the highlights

By Steph Insixiengmay -

The AC Milan Women have had a tough start to their 2022-23 Serie A Femminile campaign as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Fiorentina and they followed that up with a 2-0 loss against AS Roma last Saturday.

To add insult to injury, one of Roma’s goals was scored by Valentina Giacinti, Milan’s former captain. Roma took the lead after 19 minutes when Serturini’s diagonal ball was quickly collected by Minami and her strike was deflected in.

Giuliani looked to be in inspired form making some key saves in the first half, but she could not stop Giacinti doubling the home side’s lead as she surged into the box and fired low into the corner.

Roma’s lead would last through the second half and they emerged from the match as the victors. Milan will have to recover quickly as they face Sassuolo next Sunday, with kick-off time at 14:30 CEST.
