AC Milan’s presence in the USA could grow further as preseason tournament beckons

By SempreMilan -

After a long and arduous season, everyone at AC Milan from the playing staff to those in the backroom and even everyone behind the scenes will be enjoying the break that they have away from the football pitch.

Of course, this season was an extremely rewarding one for Stefano Pioli’s side as they managed to win their first Scudetto title since 2010-11, however it is one campaign that would have certainly left the squad feeling extremely fatigued and in dire need of time away on a beach in a sunny climate.

However, as we all know in football, whilst it can be nice to unwind for a brief period of time, the entire club can not get too carried away with the time away from the pitch, as before they know it, they will be back in action and will need to start on the right foot if they want to defend their Serie A crown and retain it successfully.

Inter Milan and Juventus will be gunning for them in the 22/23 campaign, whilst the likes of SSC Napoli, S.S. Lazio, and AS Roma will also want to challenge for Scudetto honours, too. With a fiercely competitive year – that will include UEFA Champions League action – set to commence in August, Pioli’s side will want to ensure that they are in top shape and ready to be able to compete in the best possible way.

The States are calling

Perhaps this is why there are rumours that the Rossoneri will be heading to the United States of America this summer on a pre-season tour where they could end up facing three of the biggest teams in European football.

Whilst many of us know that these pre-season tours can be great money-spinners and help to bring in some lucrative rewards for a football club as they expose themselves to a potential new market, there is no denying that they can be beneficial for the players involved, too.

Indeed, when you take into account the fact that Milan could be about to go up against Juventus, Real Madrid, and FC Barcelona, then it would be very easy to suggest that this pre-season tour has many different advantages that can benefit Pioli’s team moving forward.

Plenty of excitement

It would not be difficult to imagine that there would be a lot of excitement in the USA if AC Milan were to arrive on a pre-season tour of the country, especially if they were to be joined by the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

Indeed, whilst the stands will likely be packed by Americans, it would not be a real surprise if we were to see many of them place wagers on the games that involve them, either, perhaps in an effort to further the whole football experience that they can receive.

USA sports betting around the pre-season tour that could be about to happen is likely to see a lot of interest from fans and punters across the country, especially as there will likely be Americans who would be delighted to see four of the biggest European clubs have ever existed participate on the field, including the league winners of the Serie A and La Liga.

Given the historic nature of each side that could potentially be involved, it would seem that there are a number of betting opportunities possible to enjoy, even if all these games are considered to be an exhibition in some shape or form.

Will it happen?

As mentioned, the tour of the USA is still a little speculative at the moment as there has been nothing official to have been confirmed by the Rossoneri at this stage, although it really would not be a shock to see the Serie A champions take to the field across the Atlantic.

Let’s be honest, the Scudetto champions are one of the biggest club sides in world football and one to have been able to form a lasting legacy within the sport. Despite the fact that silverware prior to last season’s title success had been a little light compared to times gone by, many will instantly name the Rossoneri as one of the sides that they immediately think of when thinking about the game in Italy.

Add in the fact that the four teams said to be involved are among some of the biggest in the world, and it really would not be a surprise if we did see this happen.

What should fans expect?

Whilst it would all be a pre-season event and one that will see players looking to find their feet after a rather hard and grueling campaign, it would be easy to suggest that we should still be able to see some excellent football being played on the pitches across the nation.

Each of the matches to be played will be games that will attract global audiences given the stature of the clubs involved, but there will be fans that will be very interested in the game between AC Milan and Real Madrid.

For starters, it is a match that will see the two league champions go up against each other, whilst it would also see Carlo Ancelotti go up against a team where he had a huge amount of success before going on a European adventure with multiple clubs.

Additionally, the game against Juventus will be one that many will hope is like the classics that are played against each other throughout the Serie A season, whilst the contest against FC Barcelona is going to be one game that does not happen all-too-often.

Final thoughts

Whilst it all still seems a little speculative and debatable regarding whether AC Milan heads to the USA and goes on a pre-season tour, it would certainly be an interesting one if the four teams mentioned were to all compete against each other! In fact, some would say it is a must-see event, despite the fact each match will likely be played like an exhibition or a training exercise.
