Over the last few weeks, AC Milan have been linked with the recently-added Azzurri striker Mateo Retegui. After his first training sessions with the Italy squad, he received a lot of praise from many observers.
As was reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport yesterday (read here), Milan have Retegui at the top of their wish list for the attack even if Inter are leading the race right now. Given Giroud and Ibrahimovic’s age, a striker will be needed.
Speaking to Corriere Della Sera (via MilanNews), the pundit Lele Adani shared his thoughts on Retegui. He stated that he’s a very strong striker and gave an interesting comparison based on his characteristics.
“If we talk about characteristics, he’s a mix between Belotti and Iaquinta. He’s a centre-forward like the former, but attacks the space and works for the others like the latter. Last year he scored a lot, but this year a little less because the Tigre are struggling. He always fights and works hard.
“If he were to come to Europe, getting to work with coaches who still pay attention to the details, he would certainly have room for improvement,” he stated.
Another player that Milan have at the top of their wish list for the attack is Noah Okafor, who scored against the Rossoneri in the Champions League earlier this season. Regardless who arrives, it’s clear that Milan need a striker for the future.
