Adli’s situation
This morning, Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) wrote that there is now interest from Saudi Arabia in the midfielder, which opens up a new avenue. However, he has not made up his mind about a potential move to the Middle East.
Alongside this, there remains interest from France and Serie A. In fact, Sassuolo have verbally admitted theirs. Though they too have not made any movement so far. So, this is where the problem lies.
Right now, there is nothing concrete about an exit for Adli, who has been available since before the mercato even opened, with Fiorentina not opting to make use of their buy option in the loan deal. It has been a good summer for Milan, but it could be better with moves like Adli’s departure.
Sassuolo waiting till the last minute when they’ll be able to get him on favourable terms. Loan with option to buy at €6m. I’m sure we’ll accept cuz we won’t want to wait till winter to sell. Still baffles me how Allegri can’t find any use for this guy.

No one says he’s a superstar but you look at Fofana’s performance and you ask whether he’s that good, but guess what – Allegri has use for him. Not many people like Musah but Allegri seems to. There’s a certain midfielder who excels at sideways and back passing but for some reason those guys magically fit into the coach’s system. Adli is neither strong nor fast but he’s miles above the others in some aspects. Due to the fact that he’s been asked to play deeper, some people don’t even realise that he’s a good dribbler. In the end, the only opinion that matters is that of the professional not the video game players.
You’re like “people don’t like all these other players, but for some reason Allegri does, and I don’t understand why Adli is not above them”. Huh? That’s why Allegri is the coach of AC Milan and not you. Even Fiorentina didn’t want Adli.
Fiorentina “probably” didn’t take Adli cuz they signed some other midfielder (I think Fagioli) under obligation. There’s no way they could’ve signed both. Also not wanting a player doesn’t mean they’re bad. It’s like saying Donnarumma is a terrible goalkeeper cuz PSG are trying to get rid of him. Stats don’t lie and if we were to go by stats he clearly trumps most of the midfielders we have. By stats.
My point is that he’s not as terrible as people make him out to be and he’s not as good as you think I’m painting him to be. I’m just not a fan of any coach who condemns players without even assessing them.
Well Fiorentina choose to take a player on loan with obligation and it wasn’t Adli.

Sure, I’ll take your word over the word of an accomplished and well regarded tactician. Musah isn’t a starter at Milan and is linked with an exit too.
I didn’t say to take my word as infallible. I was implying that regardless of what I feel, the coach is the one whose opinion holds most weight but once in a while, history proves to us that experts can be wrong on a subject.
You have a very clear and well explained opinion. My guess is that it´s not really Allegri that doesn´t want him. Milan expected him to go to Fiorentina of find another suiter really quick, so he wasn´t in our plans from the start of preseason because they were always counting on him leaving. Maybe it has to do with his contract as well. I can´t imagine Allegri saying: ´not going to use that guy´ before he even tested him. There´re always things going on that we don´t know about.
FWIW, I agree with your thoughtful assessment of Adli. I expect we are not shopping him hard for this very reason.
It is likely Musah will more a substantial sum. Adli slides into that squad spot and is – in many ways – an upgrade with no need to rush.
We pocket the Musah sale and apply towards a CF or (better IMO) we hold it for next year to build a war chest in the same way Liverpool did last summer to this.

We paid a lot more for Musah and Fofana than for Adli. Thats why they have a bit of advantage in the picking order. Its not just that Alegri likes them. There are financial matters playing a role too.

Fiorentina was forced to accept an obligation to buy for this summer for the same position. That’s why Adli was not signed.
Adli does not have a starter position in this AC squad. it’s better for him to leave.
It’s not like he doesn’t want to leave. It’s that the clubs coming for him are not convincing. If Sassuolo were really serious then I’m sure he’d leave. He doesn’t look like the type of player to want to cause trouble for the team. It’s the same way Malick rejected Como till a more convincing club like Newcastle came forward.

Adli simply isn’t good enough. Too bad, he just hasn’t convinced anyone that he has the quality needed. I’m sure he will find a squad that suits his capabilities. It just won’t be at Milan.
Perhaps he is not that good, but with our existing midfielders especially with Modric and Jashari, he can excel at least as substitute for Modric.
Allegri refused to use him in pre-season, and I fear he may be another Origi situation if he stays. It is clear he is not in the coach’s plans for the upcoming season. And not one top team is trying to sign him.
The position that got ‘revolutionized’ is indeed our midfield. That simply means that we need completely different profiles and characters than what we already have. Adli and Bennacer are not even in our official squad (first team) list. They do not even have back numbers.
if I were him, I would accept any offer and revive my career instead of wasting time trying to convince coach who doesn’t want you..
