MN: Adli shines while waiting for De Ketelaere – Milan’s creative department restocked

AC Milan are hoping that their creative department will be fully stocked and ready to go by the first game of the season in just over two weeks.

MilanNews talks about the two ideas that Milan have to fix an attack that – aside from Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud – struggled to be productive throughout the season. The first is Yacine Adli, who was bought last summer and left on loan for a year at Bordeaux, and has already integrated very well into Stefano Pioli’s tactical mechanisms.

This was demonstrated yesterday in the friendly against Wolfsberger when he was deployed in the role of playmaker, showing great intelligence, technique and vision, as well as confidence in his movements and an already good understanding with his new team-mates.

In addition, Milan also took steps towards signing Charles De Ketelaere yesterday too. The Rossoneri have increased their proposal to Club Brugge to €31m plus €4m bonuses, with €2m of those easier and €2m less easy to achieve.

Now the ball passes to the Belgian management and if they accept the new bid, the deal will be done and De Ketelaere will finally arrive in Milano soon.

  1. I know it’s unlikely but if we don’t go for a box to box midfielder and instead go for Ziyech, we could play Adli and Tonali in the double pivot, De Ketelaere at trequartista and Ziyech at RW, I think that will definitely raise our creativity which was something we lacked a lot sometimes last season

    1. That’s definitely a potential option. Adli can play CM, and having a very creative CM alongside the more 50/50 Tonali might allow us to be more creative and attack-minded, as long as we make sure we’re not exposed at the back. This would also increase our versatility, as both Ziyech and De Ketelaere can play both ACM and RW, and Adli can play ACM as well if needed.

  2. Gigi u are on point get CDk ,ziyech and box to box midfielder but if we have restricted finance ,i would suggest we buy only ziyech and cdk and get pape matar sarr on loan from tottenham.
With these guys on our squad we are good to go.
Gabbia should be giving a chance to grow in milan. So center back should be a forgone alternative.

    1. Financial restriction is not the only issue.

Non-homegrown squad restriction (maximum 17 players over 21 years old) is also a big issue.

As current state, Milan have 18.
